A blackout due to laziness
Someone too lazy to replace his light-bulbs as they go out gets down to only one functioning bulb in his entire house. When that finally goes out unexpectedly, all the stores that sell bulbs are closed for the night, and he doesn’t even have a working TV, so he has to act like he’s in a blackout, lighting candles and listening to the radio.
