Possible plot for a movie that lasts a lifetime

Mira Weisenthal wants to make a movie that lasts a lifetime. She hasn’t offered any plot suggestions, so now I’m picking up the slack.

The movie that lasts a lifetime could open on a crowded, moving subway car. The camera would zoom in on one person in the car. Then it would flash back to some significant point in this person’s life, and tell the story of this person’s life. That would last about a year.

Then the movie would cut back to the subway train. And zoom in on a new person. And tell the story of that person’s life. For about a year, give or take. And so on. I know, 100 people can’t fit in one subway car, but people whose stories we’ve already seen could get off and new people could get on. That’s realistic.

The last year would be the life story of the train conducter. And you will not beleive the twist that happens at the end! The subway train eventually hits the end of the line and jumps into a black abyss.

“So everyone died,” you think. “Typical. I wasted my entire life watching this?”

But wait, where’s the year long credits? Oh! It’s not over yet!

After everyone in the train falls to their death in the abyss, we cut to the bedroom of a random person. The most beautiful woman in the world. She wakes up and rubs the sleep out of her eyes. “What a crazy dream I had,” she says to herself. “There was a train and all these people on it, each with their own completely unique life stories, yet they all shared the same final destiny - falling into a pit.”

Cue credits. It turns out the movie that lasts a lifetime was all a dream! Just like your life, which has now finally drawn to a close since you chose to spend your entire life watching one movie.
