No Logo
As David Askin reminds us, Joe and I came up with these bumperstickers a while back:
“Circumcision Doesn’t Go Far Enough”
“Against the death penalty? Don’t have one!”
and
“If I can read this, I’m sitting in your passenger seat”
We actually had Circumcision Doesn’t Go Far Enough made, upon the advice of our friend Timothy. What we failed to calculate was that as much as some people admire that sticker, nobody actually wants to put it on their car; strangers take that one literally, and they don’t usually like it.
Another failed product of ours was printing the logo from Naomi Klein’s No Logo on T-shirts and hats. We’d like to think the main reason it failed is that we never made an effort to sell any of them. Eventually, I gave them to my dad to sell on his T-shirt site. He didn’t sell a one, and then gave most of them away to Hurricane Katrina victims at the Reunion Arena in Dallas back when all that happened.
“Against the Death Penalty? Don’t Have One,” though… you’d put that on your car, right?
