Weekly Blog Idea Wrap Up, Dec. 14 - Dec. 20
Joseph Weisenthal had a good idea for another feature on Idea Province, one that would increase my hits and also help foster the growth of more idea blogs, which in turn would lead to an idea blog community that links to each other and increases all of our hits.
The idea is for me to write a weekly wrap-up of the best ideas I find on other people’s blogs.
The way I find most of these ideas is by searching for “idea” on Google blogsearch. And, of course, checking NewIdeaBlog.com every day.
Here are the best ideas I found for December 14 - December 20:
A web site that links to the coming out stories of gay bloggers: “At least then, interested readers would be able to get a good picture of what the end result of coming out had been for that person, by reading all their other blog entries.” From Gay Banker
Burn someone a CD, but copy-protect it so that it can’t be copied again and plays in proper CD players: “Who wouldn’t enjoy finding a homemade copy-protected CD in their stocking? They’re a great way to spread holiday cheer while preventing anyone else from spreading it further.” From Gamerz World Network
A failed Christmas card photo idea: “Imagine if you will several inches of snow. Then happy siblings playing Santa and Rudolph with the sled. A magical holiday scene, that was the plan. It didn’t quite work out that way.” From Angela
A movie about the death of Veggie Tales: “I ran across this great firsthand account of the demise of Big Idea Productions, the parent company for Veggie Tales from Phil Vischer. The story of the company’s demise would actually be a very interesting book or movie all by itself.” From marcus.thegimmick.com
Turn computer labs into workout rooms: “We were just reporting that the idea of the on-campus computer lab is becoming obsolete thanks to laptops and campus-wide WiFi — so a number of universities now have to figure out what to do with those spaces. Minnesota State University has discovered that attaching a combined computer and television to exercise equipment makes its students more inclined to work out, thereby solving two problems with one bit of technology.” From TechDirt
A non-fiction book about getting married young, and a fictional story about family strife: “I actually had an idea to write a book for people who are getting married young. Write a chapter on how to deal with family, how to deal with costs of the wedding, deal with life afterwards… But my problem with that is that Terry and I aren’t dealing with some of this stuff on our own.. so, I don’t know~ Like I said, it’s only an idea…
The only idea I have had, and only just tried to start is writing about a girl who finds herself pregnant, with a boyfriend who dumped her, raising her little brother, the only immediate family member survived out of a house fire. But for some reason, even though I think it could be good, I’m holding myself back on writing it.” From Terry’s Girl.
What a week for ideas!
