Hot Balloons

A movie like Sliding Doors that has a break in reality when a woman has to choose whether or not to get on a hot air balloon. In one reality, she gets on the balloon, and in the other version she’s too scared. This leads to one reality where she gets crippled from a hot air balloon accident, and another version where she goes on to be a world-traveling supermodel… with a heart.

How this is different from Sliding Doors is that there keep being new alternate realities branching out from this. In the crippled version, there’s another reality break when she has to choose between a manual wheelchair and an electric wheelchair. In the manual wheelchair reality, she finds the love of her life at a wheelchair race. In the electric wheelchair version, she meets a platonic father figure.

In the world-traveling supermodel version, there’s a reality break when she has to choose between smoking pot and taking Ecstasy. In the pot version, she goes to sleep and misses a big career opportunity; she decides to give up modeling and open a bookstore. In the Ecstasy version, she trips and becomes temporarily crippled, and then has to choose between a brace and a cast. This of course leads to another major reality break.

And alternate realities keep branching out over and over until there’s a thousand of them, just like in real life. It’s all tied together at the end when, after seeing all these possible realities, we have one last one. We cut back to her decision about whether or not to get on the hot air balloon.

She gets on, and the hot air balloon floats off into the horizon.
