Live Theatre Multiplex

A live theatre multiplex that has ten stages and stadium-style seating. It would follow the same schedule as a movie theatre, with each stage hosting two hour performances about five or six times a day. Except that these would be live plays, not movies.

Also just like a movie multiplex, each stage would have a completely different play (though the big blockbuster Hollywood musicals might be performed on two or three stages at once on opening weekend), and most of the plays would be new every Friday.

This would, of course, be prohibitively expensive. Instead of having a roll of film that never complains and that you can play over and over, you’d have live, cranky human beings having to repeat all the same lines and actions six times a day. And you’d probably have to pay them for that.

When I first had this idea, I imagined Joe and I having written most of the plays. Since we’re a little behind on play-writing these days, I suppose we could include plays by some wanna-bes.
