America-centric globe with country names replaced with names of American states
I have an America-centric map in which North and South America are in the middle, Europe and Africa are to our right, and Asia and Oceania are to our left. But I thought it would be nice to take this further and have a globe where all the country names are replaced with names of United States states.
The United States would be “New York.” “Washington State” would be the new name of Canada. “Texas” would supplant Australia’s given name. Italy would henceforth be known as “California.” France would be coined “Louisiana.” Ireland would be “Boston.” England would get the moniker “Washington D.C.” Brazil would be “Puerto Rico.” Liberia would be “Alabama.” Japan would be “Hawaii.” And you can probably figure out the rest.
Unfortunately, there are more than 52 countries in the world, so you would have to reserve the U.S. state names (counting D.C. and Puerto Rico) for only the 52 most famous non-U.S. countries like China, Russia and Germany. For the less notable countries, you could name them after U.S. cities or U.S. Presidents.
For instance, Easter Island could be Calvin Coolidge Island.
