Potentially Back-Handed Compliment for a Journalist

Also from Joseph Weisenthal at The Stalwart:

Just curious, suppose another journalist wrote a story about something truly astounding or got some unidentified source to say something really killer, like some crazy quote.  How would it come off if I wrote something like: “John Q. Reporter got the Stephen Glass-worthy money quote: ….”?

In my mind, that’d be a total compliment, but I could see it coming off wrong, if someone thought I was insinuating that what I was talking about was made up. You think that’d fly? Anyway, don’t steal it. Actually I don’t care. Have at it.
