“Make America Penniless” campaign

A good campaign-defining cause for anyone running for federal office is abolition of the penny. Pennies are completely useless, far more hassle than they’re worth, and they’re not getting any cheaper to make. If you’re a candidate running on an abolish the penny platform, which you should be if you’re running for office, the best capaign slogan to express this would be, “Elect Me and Make America Penniless Now.”

I would love to hear Obama proclaim, “A vote for me is a vote for a penniless America!” Or hear McCain say, “America has waited long enough to be a penniless nation. The time for a penniless America isn’t tomorrow, it isn’t ten years from now, the time for a penniless America is right now!”

Or hear Nader counter, “My esteemed opponents aren’t truly fighting for a penniless America. Oh, they wag their tongues and whimper their vision of a penniless America, but I will shout it for the world to hear! When I am elected the President of the United States of America, I do solemnly swear on my child’s grave that I will do everything in my power to assure that this - planet earth’s finest nation - gets closer and closer to its goal of absolute pennilessness every single day!”
