The “I Didn’t Mean it THAT Way!” Guy

From Joseph Weisenthal (If Joe keeps it up, I’m going to have to rename Idea Provice “Joseph Weisenthal Province”!) comes an idea for a Saturday Night Live character: The “I Didn’t Mean it THAT Way!” Guy.

The “I Didn’t Mean it THAT Way!” Guy is a talkative pervert who projects his tendency to see sexual innuendo in everything onto his listeners. For instance, he’ll be telling a completely innocuous story about going to the grocery store: “And I was looking at the avocados and… hey, jeez, I didn’t mean it THAT way!”

His listeners, who didn’t react in any weird way to him mentioning avocados, are perplexed by his implied accusation. They grow even more perplexed and frustrated as he keeps telling different bland stories and keeps suggesting that they see dirty innuendo in them (each time by repeating “I didn’t mean it THAT way!”), even though he’s the only one who sees it.

I don’t know if Joe Piscopo is still on Saturday Night Live, but if he is, he’d be the perfect cast member to pull this one off.
